JoB Description

The Central Association of the Miraculous Medal (CAMM) in Philadelphia is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Finance. This position leads all aspects of financial management and oversight including planning and budgeting, audit, compliance and strategy. This would include payroll, contracts and contract administration, insurance, invoicing, preparation of checks and other payments, budgeting and other financial reporting, banking, and cash flow. This role ensures that CAMM’s fiscal operations meet all relevant standards, guidelines and regulations.

This position will play a key role in providing advice to the Senior Executive Director (SED) on CAMM finances and will provide analysis of data for presentation to the SED and the CAMM Board to determine financial performance. He or she will also have responsibility for establishing and refining systems for producing up-to-date long-range forecasting, reports and other financial tools to assist in driving sound business decisions. Candidates should be proficient in QuickBooks and should have knowledge of database management and fundraising software.

This is a full-time salaried position with excellent benefits, reporting to the Senior Executive Director (SED) as part of the management team. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience is required, a Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, with a minimum of five years’ experience in non-profit accounting, including budget preparation. Preference would be given to those candidates who are Certified Public Accountants.

For over 100 years, CAMM has been dedicated to spreading devotion to Mary Immaculate and her Miraculous Medal, helping the formation and education of seminarians, providing care to the aged and infirm Vincentian Priests and Brothers of the Eastern Province, and supporting programs that provide assistance to the poor.

CAMM oversees the operation of The Miraculous Medal Shrine, home of the Perpetual Miraculous Medal Monday Novena. Located in the East Germantown section of Philadelphia, the Shrine is a sanctuary for prayer, meditation, and pilgrimage to God and to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Who Do You Trust?

As we approach the last quarter of the year, the three months when, historically, more dollars come to nonprofits than any other three month period, I’m often asked by reporters and regular folk how to determine if a nonprofit is “donation-worthy.” Unfortunately, our job at proving our worthiness got harder last year, as trust in nonprofits continued to drop.  According to Edelman’s annual Trust Barometer (which was released the beginning of this year), people from around the world are losing trust in government, for-profits, nonprofits, and the media.  In the United States, trust in all of these organizations dropped to 43%. .
