JoB Description

The Central Association of the Miraculous Medal (CAMM) in Philadelphia is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Operations and Facilities Management. This position is responsible for the effective management of CAMM’s infrastructure, space and assets, thereby enhancing its operational efficiency. This includes overseeing all buildings and grounds maintenance for CAMM and the Miraculous Medal Shrine, as well as ensuring that the facilities are safe, up to code and fully operational.

The incumbent will oversee the construction and renovation of buildings, manage relationships with contractors, control space allocation and maintain facility project budgets. This position will also have responsibility for preparation of operating reports, budgets, cost estimates and managing and supervising all facilities personnel. The ideal candidate should also possess superior analytical and problem-solving skills and have a strong background in management, technical skills, construction fundamentals and technology.

This is a full-time salaried position with excellent benefits, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer as part of the management team. A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, construction management or a related field, or equivalent experience is required. Candidates should also have a minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a leadership role and five years’ experience in facilities management. Preference will also be given to those applicants who are experienced in project management.

Some evening or weekend management may be required.

For over 100 years, CAMM has been dedicated to spreading devotion to Mary Immaculate and her Miraculous Medal, helping the formation and education of seminarians, providing care to the aged and infirm Vincentian Priests and Brothers of the Eastern Province, and supporting programs that provide assistance to the poor.

CAMM oversees the operation of The Miraculous Medal Shrine, home of the Perpetual Miraculous Medal Monday Novena. Located in the East Germantown section of Philadelphia, the Shrine is a sanctuary for prayer, meditation, and pilgrimage to God and to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Down Side of Giving

When did giving become all about the donor and not about the nonprofit?   With all of the years behind me, no one could consider me naïve, so what could make me ask this question?  Is it just wishful thinking?  Or that ever pressing need to believe that people still really are decent, caring, compassionate?  We saw changes in people’s giving last year that seem directly attributable to the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that nearly doubled the standard deduction, erasing the need in some people’s minds to actually make a charitable gift.  Get the deduction without actually giving?  Perhaps.
