JoB Description

The Eastern Province of the Congregation of the Mission in the East Germantown section of Philadelphia is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Marketing and Public Relations who will plan, develop and implement all external marketing strategies, marketing communications and public relations activities for the Province, including the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal (CAMM). They will direct the communications staff encompassing both organizations and will coordinate at the strategic and tactical levels with other functions within the Province.

This position will play a key role in creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive and effective marketing, communications and public relations program including publications, media relations, social media, etc. that will enhance the image of the Province and their position locally and nationally. They will assure consistence internal and external communication of the Province’s mission, vision and image. Candidates should also have an in-depth understanding and demonstrated experience in designing and executing marketing, communications and public relations activities.

This is a full-time salaried position with excellent benefits that reports to the Senior Executive Director of CAMM and is an integral part of the management team. The successful candidate will work directly with the SED to set short and long-term goals, budgets and deliverables. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required, with a minimum of seven years of experience in marketing, communications or public relations and demonstrated success, preferably in the not-for-profit sector. Preference will be given to candidates who have achieved International Association of Business Communicators’ (IABC) accreditation.

Qualified candidates must be a practicing Roman Catholic who upholds the teaching and traditions of the Catholic Church and possesses a sound working knowledge of the Catholic faith and Church hierarchy.

Weighing the Role of Best Practices in Nonprofits

Over the past several months, I have been struggling with the question of best practices:  whose best practices?  And, do best practices really allow for flexibility and latitude when integrating them into the unique culture that exists in each of our organizations?
