JoB Description

Organized and detail oriented, knowledge of QuickBooks, proficient in word processing, office management experience preferred. Ability to work independently while following established procedures. We are seeking a person with the skills and interests as well as a commitment to working in support of our mission and with those who are seeking our services. We provide strong support for learning our administrative systems and a friendly, dedicated team with whom to work.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as confidential secretary to the Executive Director and provide administrative support to management staff
  • Operate computer programs including QuickBooks and MS Office
  • Initiate and maintain files
  • Possess working knowledge of the operation of various types of office equipment and assume responsibility for proper maintenance and service. The ability to troubleshoot
  • Order clerical, administrative and other business office related supplies
  • Assist in preparation of special events
  • Administrative Responsibilities
    • Answer all calls and emails and Check Voicemails/Return call
    • Provide basic information about the GACM programs
    • Forward information to appropriate parties
    • Review emails and follow up as much as possible
  • Accounting Responsibilities
    • Enter deposits and expenses into QuickBooks
    • Print and send checks through QuickBooks
    • Work collaborative with the Treasurer and Bookkeeper 2 to generate monthly financial reports
    • Print Financial Reporting
    • Collect data to value food baskets
    • Assist with annual inventory for food cupboard
    • Maintain filing system, update as needed
    • Update and maintain GACM calendar
       

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Excellence in Microsoft Excel
  • Some college; degree preferred
  • An excellent work ethic
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural competency to work effectively with clients, volunteers and partners from all walks of life

The Down Side of Giving

When did giving become all about the donor and not about the nonprofit?   With all of the years behind me, no one could consider me naïve, so what could make me ask this question?  Is it just wishful thinking?  Or that ever pressing need to believe that people still really are decent, caring, compassionate?  We saw changes in people’s giving last year that seem directly attributable to the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that nearly doubled the standard deduction, erasing the need in some people’s minds to actually make a charitable gift.  Get the deduction without actually giving?  Perhaps.
