JoB Description

The PA Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics is seeking a Full time Program Director to manage statewide quality improvement grant projects focused on pediatric care and medical home provision for children and youth with special health care needs. Some statewide travel required.  Office located in Media, Delaware County.


Skills needed:Strong project/budget management, communication (both written and oral), evaluation, personnel management, working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point); experience in pediatric primary health care or as a pediatric care coordinator/practice manager a plus.


Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field, Masters preferred

Sustainable vs Viable Nonprofits

There is little doubt in my mind that the greatest challenge facing every nonprofit is not whether it is sustainable, but if it is viable.  Many nonprofits that aren’t viable have proven their ability to be sustainable—defined as the ability to be maintained at a certain level. Sustainability makes no judgment as to the quality of the level at which the organization is maintained, simply that the level is maintained, month after month, year after year.  Thus, we can easily describe an organization that regularly operates month-to-month, hoping each month it will still be able to make payroll, and then.
