JoB Description

Williamson College of the Trades (formerly known as Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades) is seeking to hire a Director of Major and Planned Gifts. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Director of Major and Planned Gifts will be responsible for identification, cultivation and solicitation of major gifts and planned gifts. This position works in close collaboration with the Vice President on prospects identified by board members, executive staff and outside key contacts.

Qualified candidates will have five (5) or more years of successful major gift fundraising experience in a nonprofit environment, preferably within an educational institution, with capital campaign experience preferred. The Director will have demonstrated success in achieving fundraising goals and a successful track record of cultivating, soliciting, and securing major gifts. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to build, foster and maintain relationships with both internal and external constituencies including administrators, faculty, trustees, volunteer leaders, students, donors and prospects. Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment is essential. Must have strong communication skills to express orally and in writing Williamson College of the Trades’ mission and fundraising goals with clarity, passion and persuasion. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and have previous experience working with Raiser’s Edge and PG Calc. A Bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license and use of a car along with the ability to travel. Willing to work evenings and weekends when required.

Whither Goest Our Moral Imperative?

In an address to the National Democratic Committee Future Forum in January 2017, Rev. William Barber, II made the following statement:  “…there are times when a deep, moral crisis demands that the way we have framed things up until now is insufficient.” He was speaking of the need for an American political Pentecost and a movement away from a world view of “right” versus “left” and towards a world view of “right” versus “wrong,” a moral fusion that crosses the usual suspects of boundaries people like to use to divide,  Boundaries of race and religion, socioeconomic status and education, and.
