Director of Development

The Director of Development is an integral member of the Perkins Center for the Arts team. The Director of Development will be responsible for Development initiatives to include, but not limited to: Developing an institution-wide donor relations program; Creating a strategy to cultivate and fully optimize the Center’s current membership, volunteers and affiliates; Maintaining and expanding the Center’s current public, corporate and private primary funding sources (end of year reporting and analysis are required).
Additionally, the Director of Development in partnership with the Executive Director and the Communications and Public Relations Manager, will develop and cultivate point of entry opportunities to engage and promote long-term relationships in preparation for a capital campaign.
The Director of Development will acquire an in-depth knowledge of Perkins Center for the Arts exhibitions, education programs, institutional history, and current events in order to communicate priorities and philanthropic opportunities to external audiences. Experience with creating programs for individual giving, planned giving, major gifts and bequests is required. The Director of Development will work closely with the Perkins Executive Director, the Communications and Public Relations Manager and the Board of Trustees to create a comprehensive, effective strategy that encourages participation on all levels of the Center. This individual will work to continuously improve and execute institution-wide donor relations program to promote interaction with and recognition of donors on all levels. Development and implementation of sophisticated strategies for donor engagement and solicitations is required.
This individual will be comfortable in a fast-paced, multi-facetted and multi-disciplinary, regional arts center and will capable of managing a balance between benefactors, revenue generating programs, and public programming. Experience with performance metrics to establish philanthropic objectives for prospects, develop cultivation plans, prepare solicitations and secure gifts a must. Ability to travel locally and regionally required.
The Director of Development position is part-time has a competitive total compensation package. Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required, communicated, and understood in advance. Flex-time and comp time is offered. Candidates should have the physical ability to handle stairs, the ability to lift up to 25 lbs., and assist with event set-up and break-down. Comfort with basic computer programs and willingness to learn Perkins’ unique database (Arts Center Canvas). Perkins Center is an EOE, all are encouraged to apply.
