St. Joseph’s Preparatory is a Catholic, Jesuit, independent four-year college preparatory school located on the northern edge of center city Philadelphia. As a member of the Facilities Operations department this position will be directly responsible for event preparation and custodial efforts for the School. The successful candidate will be organized, forward thinking and will understand the strong tie between the event and custodial functions of our operation with the reputation and marketing of the School. This individual will use their expertise to improve planning, effectiveness and efficiency within those functions.

This is a Non-Exempt position that reports to the Director of Facilities Operations



  • Event Management
    • Responsible for coordination of event booking within event management software to include approval and escalation to Director when conflicts arise.
    • Meet with event organizers to understand their needs and budget, schedule setup.
    • Manage staff levels to accommodate workload.
    • Communicate effectively with staff and lead including written instruction for setup and breakdown.
    • Assemble work schedules and reports on labor allocation for billable hours
  • Custodial Management
    • Manage staff levels to accommodate workload.
    • Supervise custodial staff on a daily basis and conduct daily inspections of the building to confirm that custodial standards are being met and enter work orders that may result.
    • Maintain a database of MSDS Sheets and COIs for all vendors.
    • Maintain an inventory of all janitorial supplies, including paper products.
    • Assist in planning for custodial projects to be completed over breaks and holidays.
    • Generate schedules and staffing reports for project work.
    • Maintain a record of absences for each employee and coordinate backfill.
    • Communicate performance and time record related information to employees
    • Conduct annual performance reviews



  • Prior experience with event/work order software
  • Ability to use Microsoft products including Excel and Word
  • Experience in managing a team of 4 or more people
  • Experience with event coordination and staffing
  • Custodial experience




  • Works in a potentially stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
  • Must have good hearing and vision
  • Will need to have significant mobility and be able to lift up to 40 lbs., bend and squat.
  • Work in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
